I december 2017 kommer trions fjärde skiva - Heal the World.

Presscitat:
”Open trio has developed its own sound and approach. Hopefully this trio will not wait another five years before recording its fourth volume.” -All About Jazz

"Open Trio plays jazz that mixes Scandinavian folk flavors, neoclassical influences, and free playing in an enticing way... If Open Trio continue to produce jazz of such emotional depth, exhilarating freedom, and memorable melodicism as they do on Farger, they certainly will be seeing me and, I suspect, many of you, tomorrow." – All About Jazz

In English: Open Trio has played modern jazz signed Joakim Simonsson since 2000. The trio has previously released three CDs, (Colors, 2003, Goodbye Everytime, 2008, and Dinosaurs in 2013) and toured in Sweden, Germany, Poland, England and Scotland. In reviews, words like lyrical, melodic, and groovy often recurred, and the music has often been described as bearer of the so-called "Nordic melancholy." Sure, you can certainly find parallels and trace influences, but Open Trio has its own tone, its own approach to the music. Joakim Simonsson leads this trio and creates through his strong compositions and melodies the foundation which the trio stands. Having said that - Open Trio is a group that improvises and creates music collectively. The songs are explored, taken apart and screwed together. Press: ”Open trio has developed its own sound and approach. Hopefully this trio will not wait another five years before recording its fourth volume.” -All About Jazz "Open Trio simply takes the jazz a couple of steps ahead and explores some different angles and looking into new corners." - Dalademokraten "This is well-written music with a variety of great arrangements where everything has ballance whether it be melodically beautiful playing or so with more moves to free forms." - DIG Jazz "Together with Pär-Ola Landin on bass and Daniel Olsson on drums creates Joakim Simonsson vital music, a melancholy and minimalist trio jazz with a Scandinavian touch. Swedish folk music echoing from the piano keys and hymns tradition lurks constantly in the reeds. It is beautiful and captivating.” - Lira "Open Trio demonstrates "Dinosaurs" that they have mastered the genre in full and that the pianist Joakim Simonsson is a talented composer." - UNT ”By turns moody, joyous, exuberant, and somber, Open Trio plays jazz that mixes Scandinavian folk flavors, neoclassical influences, and free playing in an enticing way… If Open Trio continue to produce jazz of such emotional depth, exhilarating freedom, and memorable melodicism as they do on Färger, they certainly will be seeing me and, I suspect, many of you, tomorrow.” - All About Jazz
