Pulsslag (Pulsebeat)

There are many Swedish groups of high international standard that are deserving of more listeners and greater recognition. This was the starting point and has become a beacon for this tour project. Pulsslag (Pulse beat) was initiated by Fasching's friends and the Swedish Jazz Association (SJR), which now heads the project. SJR has also enlisted the services of Swedish Radio P2 and Concerts Sweden as partners in the project.

Before the series of tours, four jazz groups are nominated. The nominees are jointly selected by five of the largest jazz clubs in the country with the most recent nominations being made by representatives from Fasching in Stockholm, Jazz in Malmo, Cookin, The Studio in Umeå as well as Öbacka in Härnösand.

The groups tour the aforementioned clubs, but are also booked by other jazz clubs around the country in a tour that typically lasts no more than two weeks. Some of Pulsslag’s groups also hold workshops and school concerts at tour venues in association with SJR's youth projects.

Swedish Radio station P2 is typically on hand to stream live performances of all groups at any of the jazz clubs which is made accessible on jazz radio.
